Nancy Newman, director of Student Health Services, has been named one of the state's "best nurses."

At the April 14 campus staff meeting, representatives from the Lincoln Journal Star stopped by and surprised Newman with an announcement that she was named one of the best in the newspaper's annual "Best Nurses in Nebraska" contest. 

"When asking ourselves 鈥淲hy we give鈥� we thought of Nebraska Wesleyan's core values. In particular, two core values inspire us to give back: Liberal Arts and Community.

Former students of LaVerne Rudell surprised their beloved professor with an endowed fund in her name during 亚博体育app鈥檚 sixth annual Business Summit, held March 7.

Rudell, professor emerita of business administration, taught at Nebraska Wesleyan for 30 years from 1966 to 1996.

Cathy Nelson, associate professor of Spanish, has been selected to serve on the National Screening Committee (NSC) for Fulbright Scholarship applications.

Nelson will evaluate applications for the Fulbright U.S. Student English Language Teaching Assistantships in Spain.

Nebraska Wesleyan honored several employees for their dedication to the university during the annual university dinner on August 23.

The fall semester at 亚博体育app officially began Monday, August 26. But first year students in Karla Jensen鈥檚 liberal arts seminar, 鈥淭he Liberal Arts of Yoga,鈥� started their academic year early learning the historical, psychological, economical, and political aspects of yoga.

They started on Sunday, August 18 with a class on basic breathing techniques.

Sarah Kelen, associate professor of English, has been awarded the NWU Scholar Award.

The award recognizes excellence in scholarly or creative contributions to an academic field.

The award, honoring President John and Marty White for their many years of service to NWU, recognizes individuals who have furthered the internationalization of the campus, its curriculum, its students and faculty.

Kimberly Johnson has been named Vice President of Enrollment Management at 亚博体育app.

For the fifth consecutive year, 亚博体育app has been named a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.

Tree Campus USA is a national program created in 2008 to honor colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and for engaging staff and students in conservation goals.

Kristie Pfabe, professor of mathematics and computer science, was recognized October 2 with the award, which is presented annually by the Division of Higher Education of the Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church.

Ezra Klein, a Washington Post blogger who recently was named one of the 鈥�50 Most Powerful People in Washington,鈥� delivered the lecture 鈥淭he Unpersuaded: Who Listens to the President?鈥� of Klein's take on Washington, D.C.

Global Service Learning has been recognized with the University's Roy G. Story Award for their work as true global ambassadors for Nebraska Wesleyan.
